So are you saying price is a good way to evaluate watchwinders?
Yes and No.
No. Price is not he best guide to use in evaluating a Watch Winder. Price tends to give an indication of quality, but the price guidelines are only written to let you know how to find a winder (that works) but it will not be cheap! A watchwinder is a luxury item, just like a mechanical watch. Scatola del Tempo makes a very nice high end single watchwinder. It sells for $1785, but I think the Orbita Prestige 1 Winder or the Siena 1 WatchWinder are both much better for far less! So there is certainly a minimum price. One should avoid "Cheap Winders" for sure, but the most important thing to do is read about the brands and find brands that consistently get good marks from non biased websites.
For a larger choice the Monaco 4 or Monaco 6 would also be good. Would it be a mistake to pay more for a winder? No. Would it be a mistake to pay less? Yes!
People do not own mechanical watches because they are cheap or even for their time keeping ability. Any $50 quartz watch will keep more accurate time than an automatic watch! A winder will do something nothing else can do; keep that mechanical engineering marvel at almost the correct time and always the correct date and other complications. A quality winder will provide a ready to wear watch with no need to set every dial. No one wants to pay "too much" for anything, but our customers seem to shop with us because they want high quality products at competitive prices.
