EILUX WATCH WINDERS:

Simply the Best Value in Watch Winding available! Eilux Winders: The Finest Inexpensive Watch Winders Made. Hong Kong. Eilux watch winders and components and accessories are protected by World Wide patents. The Eilux company mission is stated as being: “To produce the finest quality watch winder in the world today." I think they are close to achieving that goal.

Eilux Watch Winders has its origins in the Japanese watch market and this is why they are light years ahead of other Chinese made watch winders. The company's website is www.Eilux.com, it redirects to http://www2.eilux.com/ for some bizarre reason.

They initially made winders for the Japanese automatic watch market and only recently have started importing to the USA, it is this Japanese heritage which is responsible for a very affordable winder with the quality and performance level one would expect from a German or United States made product. In addition the company also manufactured high end components for the watch industry and this combined cultural and technical experience has put them in a unique position in the young Watch Winder market place. Other Chinese based companies have not had the direct contact with a market that is arguably the most demanding market in the world! Americans from time to time have been know to buy based on price alone. The American market is demanding but not nearly as demanding as the Japanese Engineers who dictated the improvements at Eilux in the early years and even today....

In 2005 Eilux now goes by Eilux International LTD but the company has over 20 years experience in high-end watch manufacturing. All Eilux winders are designed by their production development department in Japan and manufactured in a state of the art facility in Hong Kong.

Every feature about the Eilux/Everwell Winder is thought through for maximum ease of use and functionality. Even the Watch Winder Holders are sophisticated and effective. Patented self adjusting soft grip watch mounts. Protects from scratches. Watches held securely with Patented Spring Loaded Watch Holder allows super easy loading of watches. (Not simply the typical foam pillow holder)

Let me explain the importance of Eilux Watch Winders having its origins in the Japanese watch market. It is critical that you understand, this is not a price based commodity and though this company has price advantages it is not a compromise in quality as is a purchase of any other competing cheaper watch winder on the market today.

The Japanese Automatic Watch market is about 5 to 10 times larger than that of the US Automatic Watch market. The average Japanese business man owns 3-5 automatic watches, some expensive, some not. However all these automatic watches need to be kept wound! Fuzzy Logic was first on the scene to provide winders for this demanding market place. Fuzzy Logic eventually changed names and evolved from an entry level winder into the top notch high quality Eilux Watch Winders of today, which we offer for sale at WatchCases.com.

From the start price was an important issue. However price took second place to quality, since the Japanese demand the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices. This put Eilux under unusual pressure but made them into a very good product! Eilux is now in my opinion positioned to leap frog all other watch winder manufacturers for performance, price and reliability. (Though, I would contend some of their products are funny looking. They (Eilux) are working on styling and in time will also be making the most stylish winders, barring continued advances by Orbita Corporation of cours, the recognized leader in the industry.)

Eilux recently changed their name from Everwell Instruments and prior to that they were known as Fuzzy Logic. Their paperwork still shows all 3 company affiliations. If Eilux has a downfall it is in the area of documentation! But please do not assume you can judge this book by its cover! Or in this case, by its documentation!

The winder box and components are made in Hong Kong China, while the internal Eilux Fuzzy Logic Watch Winder Movement is Japanese. The perfect blend of price and performance is the result.

This Japanese Market heritage has resulted in a watch winder made in Hong Kong China but with the quality and performance of a product made in the USA or Germany.

The key areas of strength of the Eilux Winding System are. 1. Super Quiet Operation 2. Unbeatable Reliability 3. Top Notch Performance 4. Long Battery Life 5. Lowest Price available for a truly quality watches winder. 6. Patented Watch Holder

Why do I attribute their origins in the highly competitive Japanese market as the reason for their excellence? Let me tell you a little story and then you can decide if my argument holds water or if I am simply hyping the product.

Is Eilux the Best Watch Winder on the market? No, they are not. I would argue that Orbita is still the best winder, however the Eilux Winder might be the best winder for your needs, you decide.

Orbita understands finish quality, which Eilux is only starting to grasp this past year. Fit and finish is never a problem for Orbita Winders, sometimes it is for an Eilux Watch Winders, and the lower price reflects this. If we at watchcases.com were not in the “luxury market” I would not mention this “fit and finish” component. However since we are dealing with expensive automatic watches some valued in the tens of thousands of dollars one has to address the potential audience.

Half the people in this luxury audience would not be caught dead with a product that is less than perfect. The other half of my audience simply cares about function and not so much about form and a minor fit problem is not an issue for them.

However all of my customers demand quality and this is why we at watchcases.com do not carry Cheap Watch Winders. We do carry some inexpensive winders, but they are not cheap, they are all quality winders.

(We do not carry Steinhousen Watch Winders and we do not carry ERS Watch Winders. basically if you see a winder for sale some place at a lower price than what we sell winders for it is because we deem it “not good enough” quality wise. If it is for sale for a higher price we deemed it “too expensive”, though it may well be a very good product.)

Here are the key strong points about the Eilux Watch Winder and how this strength related to the Japanese Market Origins:

1.) Super Quiet: The Japanese market is very demanding. They are on a small island and real estate is expensive and quarters are tight and cramped and therefore Eilux Watch Winders had not only to be quiet, they had to be Super Quiet! Every year I have seen improvements in this area. Today’s winders are virtually silent even after years of use.

2.) Historically the Japanese have always had a problem with raw materials and parts and supplies. (Most of their history of attempted forceful expansion is a reflection of their Island status.) This problem, resulted in a culture which valued reliability above all else. Better to pay more for a product never needing repair, than to have to wait months for a part. Look at their leading car companies Honda and Toyota as an example of this truth. (In general China developed differently, with ample cheap labor and raw materials it made more sense to get a product out the door and fix it as needed. This makes Eilux unusual indeed, well ahead of their countrymen in quality control issues!) Interestingly enough I suspect the popularity of Automatic Watches in general in Japan might have something to do with battery supply issues. I know it is hard enough to get a new Swiss watch battery; I can’t imagine what it is like on an Island! But it could be the Engineering influence, since a fine Swiss Automatic Watch is truly an engineering marvel! If you never owned one, (an automatic watch) your best to stay away, since your pocket book will suffer as soon as you get hooked on Automatics! The Japanese got hooked long before America and Fuzzy Logic was there supplying inexpensive dependable watch winders.

3.) Top Notch Performance: Japan has more Engineers per capita than almost any other nation. Engineers like things to work exactly as intended. Japan has a strong business climate, and successful business people also like things to work well all the time. This cultural tendency made automatics appealing and also resulted in Eilux winders being made with top notch performance in mind. They can wind any watch. We have yet to find a watch that an Eilux Winder can not wind.

4.) Long battery life- As mentioned earlier, the Island supply issue plus expensive electricity and expensive watches combined to have demand for a Winder with battery operation yet with long lived batteries. Since a battery powered Eilux cubic watch winder can easily be placed and stacked inside a safe. A Japanese businessman could own 5 automatics and place each on a separate cubic winder, stack them up and close the safe and his watches were safe, secure and ready to be worn in 6 months should he wish to leave them for that long. Eilux only started making double and triple winders in 2004 as they grew to understand the US market needs. Americans seem to like a big box instead of 2 smaller boxes. But Americans are basically all Texans at heart, we like things big. (Just look at our cars and waist lines! ;-)

5.) Lowest Price- Since Eilux is in fact a Chinese company, they are very much aware of the constant demand for lower priced products. They see the competition and respond with a product priced attractively, however their Japanese roots do not allow them to sacrifice quality for price as most cheap winders have done. Eilux instead tends to use plastic boxes as opposed to other sturdier materials found in US and German Winders like Orbita and Buben and Zorweg. But this also fit well with the Japanese market place since they wanted a functional winder which they would shove into a safe or sock drawer and so they could care what it was made of as long as it worked quietly!

6.) Patented Watch Holder. I have no logical explanation for this. All I can say is the engineers at Eilux came up with a super design! The watch holder is spring loaded so one can place a watch on with one hand. Close the watch band as if it is on your wrist, squeeze the holder, slip the watch on like on your wrist and the holder expands to firmly hold the watch in place. No fumbling with a pillow or cushion as is most commonly used to hold a watch in a box or winder. Very neat design feature indeed. Again, this shows their mentality is function over looks. The Holder is plastic, with a soft grip along the outside edge to protect the watch. (This soft grip was added in 2005 as a result of US customers being afraid the plastic holder would somehow scratch their watch. Someone was asleep in Physics and Chemistry class, (harder material scratches softer material, hence metal and diamonds are used in drill bits, not plastic!;-) but Eilux responded to the perceptions of their new market in the USA. I think most US customers will be pleased.

Well, a lot of other watch winders are made in China and can compete in the price structure, but none can compete in the reliability and dependability arena! These other Watch Winders sell, but they do not perform as advertised. These Cheap Chinese “wannabees” are a long way from a mature product. It may look good and it may work at first, but in the long run it falls short! Chinese products historically have not had to be reliable, cheap labor allows one to fix things cheaper than one can buy a new one and therefore the incentive is simply not there to build the extra expense into the front end of the manufacturing process.

Thank you for shopping for an Eilux watch winder at WatchCases.com! We promise our best service!

Technical Details: All Everwell Industries Deluxe (Eilux) Watch Winders are programmable for direction of turns. Different Watches require different settings for winding direction. 3 settings exist 1.) CW: Clock Wise 2.) CCW:Counter Clock Wise 3.) Bi-Directional meaning it winds CW and then CCW. All Eilux Winders are factory set Bi-directional winding. (Rolex and a majority of watches work on this setting, therefore it is the default setting.) Note: The winder must be turned off to change the winding direction. You can not simply flip the switch. Nothing will happen if the switch is flipped while the unit is in the on position. This is to protect the unit from damage. Other winders are frequently broken when customers change directions while the engine is winding. This is like putting a car in reverse at high speed, which of course voids the warranty and breaks the unit all in one flick! Eilux thought this through and so you can not break your winder motor with this silly error. However resetting directions takes reading the directions and turning the unit off changing the setting and turning the unit back on. The winder is motionless longer than it is moving. A red indicator light will indicate if the winder has power. The light will blink red when power is on but the unit is not in motion. It will burn solid red when the unit is in motion. The basic 4 hour mode gives 900 TPD (Turns Per Day). Meaning 450 Turns in CW and 450 Turns in CCW directions. This meets or exceeds the winding requirements for Rolex and most other Automatic Watches.

The 4 hour mode is factory preset on Bi-Directional Winding: This running cycle is 24 minutes winding and 3 hours 36 minutes resting. It repeats the cycle every 4 hours.

When the winder is first switched on, the winder will start rotating the watch and the red light is solid. (No light means no power.) In the bi-directional setting the winder will wind clockwise for just under 2 minutes stop for 1 second then wind counter-clockwise for approx 2 minutes and repeat this cycle for a total of 12 times or 24 minutes. In either of the other winding directions it will wind continuously for 24 minutes in the same direction. Note: Whatever the directional switch setting was turned to when the unit was last on is how the winder will wind until the unit is turned off, the switch direction changed then the unit is turned back on.

The Eilux Company Website has a nicely done flash presentation of their winder and its workings including complete directions on the workings of the Eilux Watch Winder click the blue link:then just close the window to return to our site to buy the winder. The Eilux page will open in a new window and our site will remain under it. To see all Eilux models click here->Eilux Winder. All Eilux Winders use the same watch holder for the watches some customers prefer a softer pillow style holder, but this is not available in Eilux Winders in which case I recommend choosing the Orbita Watch Winders or Buben and Zorweg Watch Winders.
