...............* Eilux Winders: Eilux "The Finest Inexpensive Winder Made" Simply the Best Value in Watch Winding available! Eilux (pronounced "eye-Lux")is a Hong Kong based company. Though politically Hong Kong is in China in terms of quality of products, Hong Kong is light years ahead of the mainland in quality as a rule and this company is no exception. Hong Kong does not allow spitting on their streets and their public restrooms are cleaner than what you would find in the USA. Hong Kong stands for quality.
Eilux watch winders and components and accessories are protected by World Wide patents.
The Eilux company mission is stated as being: “To produce the finest quality watch winder in the world today."
I think they are close to achieving this goal. However recent changes to the winders Turns Per Day program makes Orbita a better choice for about 10% of watches. Rolex based watches will work great with Eilux, but some other more sophisticated watches will no longer be wound by the Eilux Winder. Why was this done?
I am not sure but I would suspect it is a simple answer.
Price. To compete with the cheap over supply of Chinese winders, they did away with the longer program of 1,300 TPD thus reducing the sophistication and lowering the price.
Eilux Watch Winders has its origins in the Japanese watch market and this is why they are light years ahead of other Chinese made watch winders. The company's website is www.Eilux.com, it redirects to http://www2.eilux.com/ for some bizarre reason.

Technical Details: All EILUX- "Everwell Industries" Deluxe (Eilux) Watch Winders are programmable for direction of turns. Each Winding Head is independently programmable for winding direction, so 3 different watches can be wound!
Factory preset at 900 TPD Bi-Directional winding.
(This is the winding setting which is good for 90% of watches, those with Rolex type movements need a minimum of 600 Bi-Directional TPD. No worry about over winding, 900 turns will not hurt your watch.) Eilux watch winders will wind 95% of the watches available with accuracy and dependability. Only Orbita Watch Winders can do it better!
Different Watches require different settings for winding direction. 3 settings exist 1.) CW: Clock Wise 2.) CCW:Counter Clock Wise 3.) BD: Bi-Directional or Both Directions: meaning it winds CW and then CCW.
All Eilux Winders are factory preset BD: Bi-directional winding. (Rolex and a majority of watches work on this setting, therefore it is the default setting.)
Note: The winder must be turned off to change the winding direction. You can not simply flip the switch. Nothing will happen if the switch is flipped while the unit is in the on position. This is to protect the unit from damage. Other winders are frequently broken when customers change directions while the engine is winding. This is like putting a car in reverse at high speed, which of course voids the warranty and breaks the unit all in one flick! Eilux thought this through and so you can not break your winder motor with this silly error. However resetting winding rotational direction requires reading the enclosed written directions (or remembering this sentence) and turning the unit off changing the setting and turning the unit back on. Simple, but critical.
The winder is motionless longer than it is moving. This is true of any high quality winder, the majority of the time the winder will be at rest. A red indicator light will indicate if the winder has power. The light will blink red when power is on but the unit is not in motion. It will burn solid red when the unit is in motion.
The basic 4 hour mode gives 900 TPD(Turns Per Day). Bi-Directionally: Meaning 450 Turns in CW and 450 Turns in CCW directions. This meets or exceeds the winding requirements for Rolex and most other Automatic Watches.
The 4 hour mode is factory preset on Bi-Directional Winding: This running cycle is 24 minutes winding and 3 hours 36 minutes resting. It repeats the cycle every 4 hours. Hence the name 4 hour mode. To decrease the TPD one should purchase a simple timer to turn on an off less frequently so every 5 hours.
When the winder is first switched on, the winder will start rotating the watch and the red light is solid. (No light means no power.) In the bi-directional setting the winder will wind clockwise for just under 2 minutes stop for 1 second then wind counter-clockwise for approx 2 minutes and repeat this cycle for a total of 12 times or 24 minutes. In either of the other winding directions it will wind continuously for 24 minutes in the same direction. Note: Whatever the directional switch setting was turned to when the unit was last on is how the winder will wind until the unit is turned off, the switch direction changed then the unit is turned back on.
The Eilux Company Website has a nicely done flash presentation of their winder and demonstrating its workings including complete directions of the Eilux Watch Winder click the blue link:then just close the window to return to our site to buy your winder. The Eilux page will open in a new window and our site will remain under it. To see all Eilux models click here->Eilux Winder. All Eilux Winders use the same watch holder for the watches some customers prefer a softer pillow style holder, but this is not available in Eilux Winders in which case I recommend choosing the Orbita Watch Winders or Buben and Zorweg Watch Winders.
