The INSAFE case is constructed from light weight wood panels with rugged mitered and glued construction in order to prevent handling damage. These units are available totally covered with an attractive and durable black textured vinyl with simulated wood-grain finish (pictured in the middle). (Note: As of 3/15/2010 Battery compartment must be opened and yellow tab removed before batteries will operate due to FedEx/UPS Shipping requirments)

As the name implies, Orbita INSAFE watch winders are designed for the watch collector who keeps his/her watches inside their safe (or in a closet).
The rotating watch holders are fully recessed in the case so that stacking multiple units together front-to-back never exposes your watches to damage. With battery life measured in years, not months, there is no need for providing outside electrical power to the winder inside the safe.

A minimum new battery operating life of two years is guaranteed by ORBITA. We suggest battery replacement (or at least testing) once a year when you change your smoke detector batteries at daylight savings time for easy management.

Orbita writes up the winders as follows:
"The rugged INSAFE case is constructed from lightweight, 5-play Baltic Birch plywood with dovetailed construction to prevent handling damage. Watches are mounted on soft foam cushions which are held recessed in the case so that stacking multiple units together never exposes watches to damage. Unlike other watch rotators, which rotate a watch in order to wind it, the four individually powered winding units gently swing the watch instead (a patented design U.S. Patent # 6,543,929). Every 10 minutes (standard program) or every 15 minutes (extended program) the internal control microprocessor signals the drive motor to make a single turn. Then, gravity action causes the watch to swing back and forth for several oscillations just as it would while worn on the wrist. The 15 minute program allows many watches that wind in both directions to remain fully wound while on the winder with increased battery life (as much as 50%). The oscillating winding action of the watchwinder is totally self-regulating and there is absolutely no chance of damaging an expensive watch by over-winding." Due to popular demand the new InSafe watch rotator has received some improvements and the Earlier Model without the adapter is no longer available. Modules are the (Sparta) Rotorwind and swing back and forth. They have the 10 or 15 minute switch for programming.
