Do not be fooled by Cheaper Winders claims of programmability when all they really offer is switching the Turns Per Day or the Directional settings. Few Winders offer Orbita's 12 different winding settings. Most winders just are made for simple inexpensive junk watches and they pretend to be "as good as Orbita", some cheap gadget winders even use strong electromagnets to change directions! Magnets are not good for automatic watches as everyone who owns a luxury Swiss watch knows.

Orbita backs up their winder products with a 2 year warranty. Plus they even sell an extended warrantyonce your are an established customer you can buy it directly from them. For a multiple head unit I recommend the Orbita extended warranty take your chances on a sigle head unit, I think they would fix it for the same as the cost of the warranty, except for the Sempre units, get the warranty on those, it is a good deal.

Technical Details: Except for the Bellino and Sparta Winder and Mechanical Watch Winder the Siempre, the 3 of which use different technology all Orbita winders are programmable as follows with 12 different settings to encompass all different luxury watch requirements. 3 Directional settings:Bi-Directional winding, Clock Wise (CW) or CCW. 4 TPD settings or Turns Per Day. (TPD) can be set for 500, 650, 800 or 950. Setting the winder is simple. Find out what setting your expensive watch needs, look at the diagram and flip the switches to match the diagram found on the base of the winder. It would be hard to make things any easier! 12 settings 12 pictures.

A child can program the winder! But if you have trouble just call us and we will assist you, or call Orbita and they are always willing to help! I strongly endorse Orbita products and customer service! No need to ever fret about over stressing your expensive watches! Auto reverse runs CW, turns off, next time runs in CCW rotation. Orbita allows you to set watches for their "exact" needs and not worry you'll over wind them or over work the delicate movements. Orbita admits it is "not likely" one will "over wind" a watch & damage it; however they also are of the philosophy "why risk an expensive watch when for a few more dollars one can purchase a top of the line programmable winder?" (Battery Information accurate as of March 2007) Orbita Winders use one of 3 type batteries. 1. 90% of Orbita Winders use Four(4) of the "C" size batteries per winder head. (All units except Sparta and Voyager.) 2. Orbita Sparta Winders use two(2) of the "D" size per winder head. (Orbita Sparta Winders will operate for at least 48 months on the same set of batteries due to the Patented Rotorwind System of the Sparta Winder. Twice as long as any other battery powered winder!) 3. Orbita Voyager uses four(4) of the "AAA" size batteries.

What makes Orbita better? Lots of small things. The biggest is their people. They have a wonderful staff, committed to service and proud of their products. The other is their products. They are made better than they need to be. This gives Orbita the edge. The thing is with a winder motor, is it must move the watch, but it must also stop the watch hard enough that the rotor inside the automatic watch keeps moving. This inertia is what imparts the most wind to the watch and why so many cheap winders only will wind a few watches and only for a short time. The motor must be made strong enough inside for the gears to withstand a near sudden stop. This is why cheap winders start to make noise shortly after they are in use, about 30 days usually. The gears start to wear and tear and make a ruckus! I do not like to write about particular brands, but it is amazing the percentage of customers who say they bought a such and such winder and it stopped after 2 months or so, and now they are ready to buy a good winder. Why they throw away $200 confuses me. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to something like a watch winder which is not made in the millions, or thousands, but instead in the hundreds. Cheaper is gotten only by using cheaper parts, which break.... They sold 1 million ipods in a shorter time than it took to make an Orbita Winder 6 Watch Winder from scratch! So economies of scale do not apply to this market of watch winders or watch cases for that matter. Watch collectors just do not make a mass market. So do yourself a favor buy an Orbita in the beginning and be proud!
