The Sparta, which we call the Easy Winder, rocks your watch back and forth. You can see it in action below. The back and forth pendulum motion makes it a good watch winder for a Rolex.
The best thing about the Sparta winders is how easy they are to use. Other than on and off, the winder has only 2 settings. Either the factory default 10 minute setting, or a 15 minute setting designed to extend the battery life. Orbita recommends the 10 minute setting for all but a handful of watches, so just stick with the default setting and don't worry about it. The default setting will start the watch rocking every 10 minutes.
Because the motor only runs for a few seconds every 10 minutes, you can get incredible battery life from a Sparta. The lithium batteries are guaranteed to last 5 years, and replacements aren't too expensive. You can buy a Sparta Replacement Battery from us for $50.
The watch fits on a soft foam pillow, available in 3 sizes.
The pillows work great for all the watches we tested them with. The largest pillow is about 9 inches all the way around, and the smallest is about 7 inches. The medium pillow is about 7.5 inches. If you use a measuring tape to measure your wrist, you'll want to get a pillow that is just a bit larger than your wrist. The pillows are flexible, and you want the watch to fit snugly.
The pillow fits inside a mounting cup that holds it securely.
