Why are the Venlo leather cases so expensive?
Answer: Because they are handmade exclusively for Venlo Company in Italy in small numbers for the niche large faced luxury watch market. Most importantly no corners are cut or cheap substitutions made in the manufacturing. No cheap leather, no cardboard box frame, no cheap faux linings. Only the finest real leather exterior, high quality interior and solid wood frame. Hand crafted by craftsmen in Italy. Not made in a sweat shop factory on the other side of the world.
If you own a luxury high end watch with a Jumbo Face (in excess of 45 mm). This case will hold a watch as large as 65mm if you own such a jumbo faced watch then this is the only case that is available in the market place for your watch. If you own such a watch, the price listed is of no consequence. The margins on these cases are smaller than the margins on the cheaper mass market watch cases, but the cheaper watch cases will not hold your Jumbo Luxury watch. Otherwise we would not bother to carry a 2 watch case priced at close to $500!
That aside, it is truly a nice piece.
Cortona cases are built on solid wooden frames, specifically designed to protect a fine timepiece or writing instrument. (Most watch boxes sold have fiber board frames, not wood!) The frame is
generously padded and wrapped in non-tarnishing Alcantra suede, providing comfort and security to the contents. This is a top notch quality leather watch case. Venlo uses only the finest and richest calfskin leather to finish these cases and all hinges and locks are nickel-plated.
For the discerning collector who seeks a fine luxury watch case to hold his or her Swiss, German, or French made luxury Watch.
