No. A watch must be at least 80% wound in order for a watch winder to keep it wound. A winder keeps your watch going. So either take it off and follow the directions for winding with the stem (*a potentially dangerous practice) or flick your wrist back and forth to get it wound up to 80% or better capacity....Do the right thing, get a high quality watch winder that will not over wind your watch, and will keep your time and not allow the liquids inside to congeal. Save your investment with a relatively small investment in preventative maintenance.
*Note from the owner: We have had many customers tell us over the years how they broke their winding stem and how it cost them in excess of $600 to have it repaired and that they are kicking themselves for not just splurging and getting a good winder at the start. Personally, I have never broken any of my watches (and I have a big collection), oh wait, but then I own a watch winder company! Donald Geib
